This genus contains two of the largest bats in Sweden. They call with a lower pitch than other species, around 20 kHz. It can be hearable for young people.

The Common Noctule is one of the most common bats in southern Sweden and can often be seen before dusk.

The Lesser Noctule is rare, but can be detected  sometimes in the southern part of the country.
